I guess the worst year after a fire isn't the first year! My numbers seem down but I think the animals are redistributing back in the burn. I need to reopen the half my trapline trails the burn closed. Anyone want to run a chainsaw? LOL
First time ever a wolf was in a lynx pen. The hundreds of times wolves come near a pen they always circle away down wind. This time I guess a pup stuck his paw in the snare. The outcome was inevitable.
Had a warmup here and a bunch of stuff opened back up, so we missed a week of checks. But, we finally made it back in this past weekend. Lots of open water still.
Plenty of fur to pickup and we even got my buddy his first Wolverine. A big 40lb male according to his Chinese made scale at the house.
Bait site was cleaned out completely. I meant to get a picture, but was too busy restocking it. Didn’t take long for them to clean out 300lbs that we dropped the first time. Going to have to start bringing in 1000lbs at a time.
